Canadian Contemporary Art - River Lewis Virtual and Digital Media
" Explorations in digital media - there is no explanation as to why we are doing this, other than convenience and administration. We think it keeps our hands clean.

Even in digital art-making the distinction between consumer and producer is obscured. Green transforms into a multi-colored theme park of the mind and the conservative palette is a limitation of the different rides explored but not how many trips and resources are consumed.

My study within the theme of 'people' explores the notion of belonging and not belonging, how people treat each other as treasure, ordinary, or garbage. My exploration with roadside garbage inveresely includes garbage as a living entity deserving of consideration and respect.

This is not the 'art of garbage' or garbage art (art made from garbage) per se, but rather the elevation of garbage to non-garbage such that I view the garbage in my work as people.

Digital art, less solitary an enterprise than other studio arts, has become the mainstream art through social media, destroying the elitist and hierarchical notions of greater and lesser that have been prevolent in many civilizations including our own.

Whether dominance is perceived or real the result for the recipient can be the same, which is the single word title reflecting a loss or inability in each piece within DOMINANCE and PEOPLE. This series is a study of methods, not judgement of reason or relationship. The beauty in this digital art series is that one can choose to see the dominant five square design reversed, where the four non-dominant squares become the positive image. "
